Antique Billiard Tables

Almost everyone is aware that items that were made in previous years a lot more durable than items that are made nowadays. The main reason for this is due to the materials that were being used during that time period. The antique billiard tables are a lot better than the modern tables and this is probably one of the reasons why these tables are so popular. The billiard tables that were produced during the late part of the 1800’s and the early part of the 1900’s are the best and they are produced using high quality fabric and wood.  The craftsmen that produced these tables were highly skilled.

There is a large range of different antique billiard tables that are available and this includes eight feet, nine feet, and also ten feet tables.  These tables are commonly found with a satinwood finish. These tables feature three pieces of heavy slate, which are set into the bed of the table on a six strong legs. These tables are made from wood that is of a very high quality. The older styles of billiard tables tend to be made from up to seven different types of wood.

An interesting thing about these billiard tables is the fact that there is a drawer hidden underneath the table and this is designed to hold all of the cues and balls for the table. The exquisite tables that have been found are the ones that have a design, which dates back to the Victorian times and these are finished with light oak. There are some very elaborate billiard tables, which are produced using ivory and diamonds and this can be spotted within the rails on the table.

Depending on how extravagant the billiard table is the will vary in price.  There has been some antique billiard tables that have sold for a vast amount of money and the price will depend on how detailed the table is. One of the main reasons why these tables are so expensive is because of the antique level of quality and also because there is actually not that many real antique tables that are still around nowadays.

Despite this they are not actually that hard to find if you are looking for one. These tables can be purchased from a range of different sources including vendors, dealer and also shops.  The only down side for these tables is the price because these tend to be slightly more when you are purchasing it from a shop as opposed to an independent dealer.

One example of an antique billiard table is the Burroughs and Watts Georgian model and this is a good example of a Georgian billiard table. This table is a very attractive full sized billiard table and it finished in mahogany. This table is set on eight massive legs, which are fluted. The face of this table features some Georgian character, which is carved onto the table.
